Redefine Gaming Performance
Make your game faster and more immersive than ever by overclocking1 RAM and Intel®-based DDR3/DDR4 memory.2 3
What Is Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP)?
Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP) lets you overclock1 RAM and compatible DDR3/DDR4 memory to enhance the gaming features built into PCs with Intel® Core™ processor. Get that extra edge you need to dominate.1
Certification Program
The Intel® Software Certification Program lets memory vendors test their products for compatibility against Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP). You can view compatible memory DIMMs from leading vendors.
Intel® XMP Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What Are Multiple Serial Presence Detect (SPD) Profiles?
Enables preset or user-defined memory profiles that can be selected depending on usage model. For example, an aggressive, low-latency profile could be used during intense gaming, while the default memory setting can be used for everyday home computing, such as home office or web browsing.
What Are Memory Vendor-Specific SPD Fields?
Enables memory module suppliers to program their own capabilities and provide unique value to end users.
Does Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP) Enable Easy Overclocking1 (Novice)?
Enables end users to easily overclock1 their platforms by selecting the appropriate profile instead of adjusting individual parameters in BIOS. Reselecting the default profile resets the platform to default setting.
How Does Intel® XMP Enable Advanced Overclocking1 (Intermediate/Expert User)?
Expert users can manually change specific SPD parameters in the BIOS and save the profiles (platform/BIOS specific).
What Is Fail-Safe Default Boot?
“First boot” with default JEDEC setting on a platform that supports DDR3/DDR4 standard JEDEC specification (your standard DDR3/DDR4 memory frequencies), ensuring base functionality. Then the user can enter BIOS and manually change settings.
Does Use of Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP) Void the CPU Warranty?
Altering the frequency and/or voltage outside of Intel specifications may void the processor warranty. Examples: Overclocking and enabling Intel® XMP, which is a type of memory overclocking, and using it beyond the given specifications may void the processor warranty. If an overclocked processor was enrolled in the Performance Tuning Protection Plan (PTPP), the protection plan will cover processor replacement only, not memory replacement.
What Is “Intel® XMP Certified”?
Intel® XMP Certified memory modules have been tested on specific motherboards using specified processors. Memory vendors execute the Intel® XMP Self-Certification test plan to ensure users can overclock1 with greater confidence. Intel® XMP Certified modules are included in the Intel® XMP Memory for Intel® Core™ processors datasheet.
Does the Performance Tuning Protection Plan (PTPP) Cover Intel® XMP Overclocking?
If a processor is overclocked using Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP), the Performance Tuning Protection Plan (PTPP) plan will cover the processor but not the memory.
